Dead Shell: Roguelike RPG is a roguelike where you play a mercenary sent from Plutonia, a remote settlement on the planet Doom-4. Your sole aim is to figure out what's become of its entire population. But it won't take you long to discover what happened as you start facing off against all kinds of monsters and demons.
The maps in Dead Shell are always randomly generated, meaning you'll never play the same game twice. When starting on a level, the game creates a custom setting using all kinds of maps, creatures, and rewards. You never know what you're going to find in the next room.
The combats in Dead Shell, as usual for most traditional roguelikes, are turn-based. You can choose which weapon you want to use in your attack and easily see the damage it'll inflict on your enemy – along with the damage the enemy can inflict on you. If your character's life points fall to zero you'll die and have to start a new game.
Dead Shell is an excellent roguelike (though it's more like a 'roguelite') whose approach clearly pays tribute to Doom. It offers simple, fun game mechanics as well as amazing retro graphics.
